Sun Pictures in trouble again?

It was only recently Sun Pictures bounced back from controversies with two back to back releases- 'Mankatha' and 'Vedi'. However, the leading production and distribution house landed in trouble on Wednesday again, with theatre owners threatening not to release movies released by Sun.

The Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners' Association has decided not to extend cooperation to films produced or distributed by Sun Pictures, protesting the latter's delay in repaying deposit funds amounting to Rs 2.5 crore for screening films produced by them including 'Enthiran', 'Maapillai', 'Vettaikaaran' and 'Suraa'.

"Our exhibitors have suffered at the hands of Sun Pictures for a long time. After our association's efforts, a section of the theatre owners got the refund from Sun Pictures. But many theatres are suffering still. Even after several rounds of talks, Sun Pictures has failed to settle the money. So we are forced to take this decision," said a statement issued after a meeting of the association.

The association's general secretary Panneerselvam explained that the deposit fund had nothing to do with the success or failure of a film, and it was mandatory for producers to repay the deposit fund to the theatres. The association also announced that cooperation would also not be extended to films for which Sun Network had acquired satellite rights.

'Don 2' in Tamil & Telugu!

Post 'Ra.One's release in Tamil and Telugu versions, it now looks like Shahrukh Khan's 'Don' series, 'Don 2' will also see a dubbed release in Tamil and Telugu with select multiplexes also screening the film's 3D version.

This sequel is directed by Farhan Akhtar and is a sequel to SRK's 2006 super hit, 'Don' which by itself was a tribute to the film 'Don' of 1978. 'Don 2' stars Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles with Lara Dutta, om Puri, Boman Irani and a host of other stars in pivotal roles.

Both 2D and 3D versions will be available for these dubbed versions as well. The film is gearing up to see a Christmas release internationally.

'The Dirty Pictures's Naaka Mukka

'The Dirty Pictures's makers have acquired the in-film rights of a chartbuster Tamil track for incorporation in their film. 'Naaka Mukka...' from the film 'Kadhalil Vizunthen' has been among the most successful film tracks till date, composed by Vijay Antony and rendered by Chinna Ponnu.

Milan Luthria expressed, "The track is rhythmic and sensual, and needless to add, extremely successful. I heard the track while shooting in Hyderabad and liked the way my production unit reacted to it."

The track will feature at various points in 'The Dirty Picture' and is being retained in its original form.

'Naaka Mukka...' is no ordinary song. It has been seemingly played at the opening ceremony of the Cricket World Cup 2011, held at Mirpur in Bangladesh, and later at the inaugural of the IPL 2011, held in Chennai.

Release Date for Mayakkam Enna Osthi Vettai Rajapattai Poraali

Now the other producers are making their decisions to release their films. Some of the producers have announced the dates of the release of their films.

Mayakkam Enna which has Dhanush and Richa in the lead roles has been directed buy Selvaraghavan. This film will be hitting the screens on 11-11-11.

Osthi which has Simbhu and Richa in the lead roles is being directed by Dharani. This film is being released on 16-11-11.

The film Rajapattai which has Vikram in the lead role is being directed by Suseendran will hit the screens on 16-12-11.

The film Poraali which has Sasikumar in the lead role is being directed by Samudrakani. This film is being released on 25-11-11.

Vettai which has Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul in the cast is being directed by Lingusamy. This film is being released on 23-12-11.

Velayudham Vijay's six pack issue

Velayudham is a film which has Vijay, Genelia and Hansika in the cast. This film directed by Raja was released for Deepavali.

This film which has been produced by Aascar Ravichandran has the music of Vijay Anthony. Recently Vijay while speaking to the media said, "The film Velayudham has got a good response throughout the world. T
his film has made everyone happier. The producer Aascar Ravichandran has told me that this film will be an enormous hit. I am very happy because what he has forecasted has happened.
Many are asking me that whether I was having six packs in the climax scene. There is nothing like that. It is only a single pack. I removed my shirt because the director requested me. The entire collection report of Velayudham will be released in a week’s time by the producer. We will be releasing in more number of theatres and screens from next week. After Velayudham, Shankar’s Nanban is ready for release.
This film is of a different genre. The whole film will make everyone laugh. Shankar sir is a grandiose director. Next I will be acting in a film directed by A R Murugadoss.
The producer of this film will be making the official announcement soon. Many are asking me that why I am acting in the same kind of films. Why the film Kaavalan before Velayudham had different story line. There were no action sequences or kuthu songs in that."

Actress Manorama is undergoing surgery treatment

Actress Manorama who has sustained injuries in her head has been admitted in the hospital and is undergoing treatment. In order to remove the blood clot in her head, she has to undergo a surgery. 20 days back veteran actress Manorama fell down due to her weakness. She sustained injuries in her forehead. But she did not take treatment for this. Because of this there was blood clot inside her head and she was suffering from acute head ache. Because of this she was admitted in a private nursing home in Chennai. After various tests including CT scan, the doctors found that there were blood clots. Now she is being treated intensively.

Asin says that she will act with Rajni soon

All the actresses have the desire to act with Rajni. In the recent times leading actresses like Nayanthara and Shriya got this opportunity. Nayanthara had acted with Rajni in Chandramukhi and Shriya had paired with Rajni in the film Shivaji. But Asin never got that opportunity. Asin while speaking said, "It is a really sad thing that I did not get the opportunity to act with Rajni. He is a stalwart in the cinema industry. I have met Rajni in many cinema functions. Whenever I use to meet him, he use to motivate me a lot. I have the confidence that I will act with him soon. Moreover there is news that I am acquiring lots of properties.

Ilayaraja wife passes away

The popular music composer Ilayaraja’s wife Jeeva passed away in Chennai on Monday due to heart attack. She was aged 58 years. She who was residing along with her family members in T Nagar had complained of chest pain. She was admitted in a nearby nursing home. She was given intensive treatment. But she passed away at 10.40 p m. Jeeva who hails from Pannaipuram is the daughter of Ilayaraja’s sister.


Ilayaraja who had been to Hyderabad to compose music was informed about his wife’s demise. He arrived in the early hours.
She is survived by Ilayaraja, sons Yuvan Shankar Raja and Karthik Raja and daughter Bhavatharani.

Rajini said: my tempo is my strength and once i loses it, i will stop acting

Rajni has mentioned that only his tempo is his strength and once he loses it, he will stop acting.
Rajnikanth for the first time after his recovery from his ill health has attended a function. On behalf of Sankara Nethralaya Eye Hospital a function was organized to honor director S P Muthuraman where he was presented with Sankara Rathna Award.


Rajni who participated in this function said, " I was thinking to participate in a good function like this after my recovery. With the blessings of the God and the prayers of my fans, I have been completely cured. I am hail and healthy now. I have not acted in S P Muthuraman’s films because he gave hit films but because of his love and affection he had towards me.
Many are telling that I should be active after my rest. I don’t have talent or good acting like Shivaji or Kamal. My strength is my speed. I can act only until this speed is there. Once the speed goes away, I will quit acting.
